Now we’ve had a few creative marriage proposals and even a few geeky ones. This next marriage proposal truly takes time and preparation. Derek wanted to find a creative and fun way to propose to Kristin, his girlfriend of 18 months, so after failed idea after failed idea, he thought of something truly creative. After Derek finished his routine run one day, he was uploading the GPS information from his Garmin Forerunner GPSWatch when he realized something.
When uploaded, the path is overlaid on Google Maps. That day I ran a route that was a little haphazard and I saw what looked like a letter and then hit me! I could run in the shapes of all kinds of things and it would appear on Google Maps. Animals, shapes, smiley faces, words, you name it. I decided I would run out the words M-A-R-R-Y-M-E-? and have the route uploaded to Garmin’s website and then from there I could fashion a way to propose to Kristin.
Derick Childress is a talented photographer from Raleigh, North Carolina. He wanted to propose to his girlfriend Emily in a creative way and need I say he did just that. Over the course of three nights taking 800 individual (each 10 second exposures) shots he spelled out in light the words “Emily, will you marry me?”
The video shows the process of how he accomplished it and his website describes the painstaking steps he took each day to create the image.
This week, another celebrity came off the market for those still in the dating scene. Here, Hilary Duff can be seen taking pictures of her ring (most likely to send to friends and family), reacting to the proposal, and showing affection to her soon to be hubby, hockey player, Mike Comrie. Enjoy!
How does the Senior Platform Manager at Facebook Dave Morin (@DaveMorin) propose to his Google girlfriend Brittany Bohnet (@Brit) ? Simple, by spelling out “B. Will you marry me?” in coconuts on a a sandy beach in the Maldives and flying over it in a private charter plane while she gets to pilot it.
Speaking of popping the question, getting engaged is a special time in any relationship. It marks the beginning of a commitment by two people to love each other and yadda yadda. The point is that the marriage proposal is a moment in every girl’s life that she has been dreaming about since day one. Here’s a beautiful “secret” video that captured the engagement of Chris and Ashley.
Disguised as a tourist, Andrew from Stereo Waltz Films captured the video on a FlipHD. Then, the newly engaged couple took the camera with them for the rest of their day in the city!
Can you give us the story behind your proposal?
Chris – Ashley and I share a journal in which we write little love notes and letters to each other. We go back and forth with journal entries and this time I was in possession of the journal. I made the decision a couple of weeks before going to Manhattan that I would use my newest journal entry to set up the proposal. Since I was going to be proposing on top of the Empire State Building and I have huge fear of heights, I thought it would be poignant in my journal entry to talk about fears. Not only fearing heights but fearing to allow someone to be in your life forever and how I have no fears with God and her on my side. Really cheesy stuff, I know. Once she finished reading it, I did the deed and lucky for me she said yes.
