Secret Marriage Proposal Video of Amy & Casey

Posted by Chelsea Donnelly on February 2nd, 2010

You may recall a secret marriage proposal video that we posted about at the beginning of January. Well, it’s a new month and we’ve got another one for ya. Again, the video was done by Stereo Waltz Films, who seem to have a way with secret engagement videos, and we’re happy they do because we love ‘em. It’s rare that the marriage proposal is caught on film, and even more rare for it to look this beautiful.

Can you give us the story behind your proposal?

Casey – Well, I made boxes for each month Amy and I dated (we’d been together for one year, so 12 boxes total)… in each box, I put an object that represented something special about that month. Then, I asked Amy to meet me at Caribou Coffee, the site of our first date. I asked twelve of her friends to hand deliver each box to Amy in sequential order, one after the other. I also asked my friend, Andy, a filmmaker, to secretly videotape the whole thing! So he was there too, catching it all on tape. Some of the boxes held objects or mementos that were serious, some that were sappy, and some that were funny. I wanted her to cry and laugh, all at the same time. The last box, which had the ring in it, was delivered to me… and that’s when I proposed.

Did you know he was going to propose to you?

Amy – I actually had no idea it was coming. At all. Casey and I had talked about getting married before, but we hadn’t really discussed when that would be… I think it finally hit me that he was about to propose at about the fourth or fifth little black box.

How did you feel? Were you nervous?

Amy – Even though the whole thing lasted about ten minutes, I went through all sorts of emotions. I was surprised, excited, overwhelmed, and extremely happy at different points, and then all at the same time. I don’t really remember anything Casey said to me… I think my mind was trying to fathom the big decision I was about to make. When he put the ring on my finger, I felt like I was going to explode with joy. But all I could do was give him a hug and cry :)

Casey - Yes, I was hoping that she wouldn’t say no! Her dad kept asking me, “But what if she says no?” So that didn’t help. Thanks, Mr. Boone.

Who did you tell first?

Amy – Since many of our friends and family already knew about the engagement and were involved in making it happen, I’m not sure who I told first. It was probably my childhood best friend, Christine… she wasn’t living in the area at the time and I’m sure she topped the list of people I wanted to tell!

Casey – My mom! I think…

How did the rest of your day go?

Amy – We spent the rest of the evening at a an engagement party Casey had planned. We went straight there from the coffee shop where he proposed. Some of our closest friends and family members were already at the party. They’d made us a beautiful cake! We toasted with champagne, prayed for our future marriage, and took a ton of photographs. It was very surreal, but wonderful!
