Wedding Planning Information for New Brides
Posted by Anne Ohn on July 1st, 2010As a new bride-to-be, planning a wedding can be an overwhelming task so I thought I’d put together a few resources for wedding planning information. I personally have been fascinated by weddings since I was a child and got married in the first grade on the playground to the dreamy Jimmy Tallon. Thankfully, I’ve gotten over my silly crushes enough to put together this list.

Finding Wedding Vendors
A great place to research wedding planning information would be wedding vendor guides and directories. You’ll find that there are a lot of them out there with vendors who want your business. These directories will allow you to browse a lot of wedding vendors in one place and look at pictures, bookmark the ones you like and/or contact them to get more information.
Wedding Planning Checklists
If you’re planning your own wedding, you may want to download or print out a couple wedding planning checklists. This will help you keep sane when you’re trying to balance payments, scheduling, fittings, tastings, meetings, and everything else involved in planning a wedding yourself.
Wedding Budget Guides
Some of us have bigger budgets than others, but determining your budget early will insure that you’ll be able to set aside the appropriate finances for the wedding vendors you want. You can even see what brides across the country are spending by checking out our average wedding cost chart. There are many resources for DIY projects you can do that will save you money, but we’ll talk about that later on.
Do-It-Yourself Wedding Tips
One way to save money on your wedding and contribute something creative to your big day is to take on some DIY projects like this DIY photo booth. You’ll find there are many DIY guides out there for you to browse through, here’s a few to get you started.
Register for Wedding Gifts
This is one of the fun parts where you get to go register for the things you’ll need or the things you want after your wedding. Be careful though, don’t go scanner-happy and end up scanning too much or else you might not get what you actually do need. Also, mix up the price range of your gifts, there are some people that can’t afford that $150 coffee table but would love to get you that $30 lazy susan you found.
Find Bridesmaids Gifts
It’s almost just as common to give bridesmaids gifts as it is to say, “I do!” There are a lot of practical and impractical bridesmaids gifts out there, make sure to find something practical, so your bridesmaids can remember the occasion and get some use out of it.
Let’s call this Part 1, I’ll post some more wedding planning information in another set of wedding planning resources in Part 2 later this month. Hope this helps.
