A Google Maps Marriage Proposal

Posted by Krystal Wynn on July 25th, 2010

Now we’ve had a few creative marriage proposals and even a few geeky ones. This next marriage proposal truly takes time and preparation. Derek wanted to find a creative and fun way to propose to Kristin, his girlfriend of 18 months, so after failed idea after failed idea, he thought of something truly creative. After Derek finished his routine run one day, he was uploading the GPS information from his Garmin Forerunner GPS Watch when he realized something.

When uploaded, the path is overlaid on Google Maps. That day I ran a route that was a little haphazard and I saw what looked like a letter and then hit me!  I could run in the shapes of all kinds of things and it would appear on Google Maps.  Animals, shapes, smiley faces, words, you name it.  I decided I would run out the words M-A-R-R-Y-M-E-? and have the route uploaded to Garmin’s website and then from there I could fashion a way to propose to Kristin.

The Punk of Wedding Photography

The blog Rock ‘n Roll Bride has a great gallery from Italian wedding photographer Joanne Dunn. We love reading Rock ‘n Roll Bride’s fresh and edgy wedding content. If you’ve never bookmarked her blog, go do it now!

The Italians are notoriously painfully stylish and ahead of the game and these shots definitely prove that to me – the black and white palate, the crimped hair, the tiered dress  – all scream high fashion bridal style for 2010.

How to: Be a Bridesmaid on a Budget

Posted by Anne Ohn on July 21st, 2010

With wedding season in full swing, many people find themselves attending numerous weddings and even being in more than one bridal party. If your invitations haven’t stopped coming, keep in mind that the festivities are not just a party, but the celebration of a marriage. Follow these tips from the Illinois CPA Society for protecting yourself and your budget from bridezillas and out-of-line grooms.

Know your limits. As difficult as it may be to say no, if you’ve already committed to being a part of three wedding parties this season and you can’t afford one more, turn down the offer.  Express to the bride and groom that you’re honored to be asked, but that you can’t afford the commitment.

Creative Engagement Session by Steven Michael Photography

Posted by Krystal Wynn on July 20th, 2010

This engagement session caught my eye right away with the big numbered signs and the vintage feel it had. Mason and Natasha are set to be married on September 4th, and what better way to show that off then this super creative engagement session. We didn’t post them all, so be sure to see the full gallery over on Steven Michael’s Blog.

We knew exactly the feel we were going for and Mason & Natasha had pre-selected a few secret spots in Kansas City.  Everything fell into place…the evening sunlight, the numbered signs, the rowboat….it was a perfect evening!  Super excited to serve this couple at their DIY real wedding this September!
