5 iPhone Apps to Help Plan Your Wedding

Posted by Krystal Wynn on May 21st, 2010

We could all use a little help planning our wedding and what better device to add a little support than the trusty iPhone. Here is a list of the top 5 apps to get your wedding day in order.

iwedding

iWedding Deluxe ($7.99) – iTunes Link

Probably the most thorough and complete iPhone app. The list of features is quite extensive starting with a Quick Setup System which starts with a countdown to your big day. It includes fully customizable to-do lists with budgets, notes and photos.

Their the ability to organize and keep track of guests and contacts with information including invite and RSVP status. You can even add notes such as any special meal requests or guests they are bringing.

There is a business locater to to find the nearest vendors for all your needs as well as an organizer to keep track of them all.

A few other neat things are a RSS/Wedding Blog reader (so you can read BridePOP of the go), slideshows, and import/export features.

wedding911

Wedding911 (Free) – iTunes Link

Brought to you by The Knot, this is a handy app to have. Essentially it’s your go to for any wedding conundrums you may have. There are loads of questions already posed with their answers at hand or if you’d like you can always ask a new question. The cool thing about this app is that it’s community based and you’ll get answers from others who have already gone through the exact thing you’re going through right now.

brideguide

BrideGuide ($4.99) – iTunes Link

This is another wedding planner app. It was designed by a professional wedding planner and is a very good companion to have. It will help you keep track of everything during the entire planning process. It has preset to-do (185 item) lists but you can also create your own.

You can track contacts, budget and vendors. There is also a good amount of information of wedding planning including advice and tips with everything from getting started, the ceremony, the reception and all the way to the Honeymoon.

weddingplan

My Wedding ($3.99) – iTunes Link

This is a simpler app that essentially organizes and helps you keep track of everything with to-do lists. It doesn’t have all of the features of some of the other apps but you will be able to make lists to organize attire, budget, guests, venues and more.

weddinggown

iBridalGown ($3.99) – iTunes Link

This is a neat little app that was designed by a bridal salon owner. It will help you track down that perfect wedding dress. As you shop for your gown, keep track of all the information of each, staying organized while you go. It has the ability to add location, details and photos.

weddinggame

Wedding Dash Lite (Free) – iTunes Link

As an added bonus I’ve included this fun little wedding game. In Wedding Dash you will become the wedding planner and help couples plan their big day (and with all the knowledge you have now it should be a breeze).

There are 50 levels of gameplay, 2 modes (career & Endless Reception) and 9 different wedding mishaps to overcome.

Delicious Engagement Photo Shoot

Posted by Krystal Wynn on May 20th, 2010

I found these wonderful photos from wedding photographer Lauri Levenfeld via the Style Me Pretty blog. The lovely and youthful couple, Jen & Russ, met in college during their freshman year and became close friends before deciding to date in junior year. Jen said the following about Russ’ proposal:

The proposal came as quite a surprise. The morning he proposed he told me he wasn’t feeling well and took the day off from work. While he was home, preparing to propose, he found a ring that I had lost. This ring was very important to me and I was devastated that I couldn’t find it. At work, I got a message that he had discovered it, I was so excited to come home and get my ring back. I opened the door and there he was, apartment clean, beautiful flowers and him dressed very nicely. I walked in, looked around, and then asked him for the ring that I had lost. He showed it to me and put it on my finger. I thought to myself, that’s funny, it’s like a proposal. After that he looked at me and said that there was another ring he wanted to give me as well. Then he took a different box, opened it and proposed. I said yes!

Awesome Star Wars Wedding Cake

Posted by Krystal Wynn on May 17th, 2010

If you’re a sci-fi geek, what better way to celebrate your special day than with an amazing Star Wars themed cake. This toppled AT-AT is one of my favorite cakes to date. I love the mini Admiral Akbar and Mon Mothma but I think maybe the topper are the Ewok cupcakes that accompany this masterpiece.

I know there are a lot of themed cakes now-a-days at weddings but I would love to dig my fork into this one…and finish it off with a bite out of an Ewok. Is that creepy of me?

The bride, Rebecca  Dudeiros, says that this cake wasn’t even made in a bakery…she had her buddy (a pastry chef herself though) Teresa Ulrich do it custom for her. What a good friend…and with amazing talent.

Beautiful “Up” Themed Engagement Shoot

Posted by Krystal Wynn on May 15th, 2010

Soon to be wed, Lynnette and James, absolutely love the Disney/Pixar film “Up”…and who doesn’t? With the help of Joy Harmon Prouty of Wildlfowers Photography they came up with this wonderful engagement shoot.

Joy has done the most amazing job taking their idea and making it a reality. The use of colors and props to recreate the feel of the movie is outstanding. Joy explains that they wanted to bring the love story of the movie to life:

The movie, “UP!” is a quirky love story that begins with Carl and Ellie meeting as children, falling in love and embracing the trials of life with that same childlike excitement.  the movie recounts the beauty of the simple things they enjoyed together… picnics under their favorite tree, finding pictures in the big puffy clouds, grape soda, painting their house, sitting next to one another in their favorite chairs and dreaming of going one day to paradise falls – the dreamland they had saved their pennies to travel to since they were children.

I must honestly say that this has got to be my favorite engagement shoot of all time. The colors are so vibrant. The theme so fun. The couple seem to be having so a great time with it and the photographer as well. What a tremendous way to start your lives together. To begin their journey “Up” James wrote the following letter to Lynnette:

Lynnette… I have a confession, I am in love with you.  It is not the ‘usual’ love, but the love that makes me remember the little things, the ‘boring’ things.  It is the boring things in life that I will remember the most.  The memories of jumping over sidewalk cracks to how the clouds talk to us.  You make me remember the moments.  It is that love that makes me believe.  Belief that I was there when you were a toothless kid.  Dancing through life, only stopping to hold my hand. Letting me know that anything is possible.  I am in love with you, ‘my greatest adventure’.

I have a very good feeling that this couple will be spending even more of their lives with one another than even Carl and Ellie were able to.
